Style It: Sweet-Tart Tunic

Happy Monday!

We had a crazy three-day weekend with lots of sickness going around our house but now that everyone is feeling better I'm looking forward to a good week ahead!  We got some fun news from my little brother on Saturday...he asked his cute girlfriend to marry him!  So not only do I have one, but TWO brothers getting married now!  One next month in AZ and now one in May in CA!  I'm so excited to be gaining a few new sis-in-laws!  And you know what that means....another wedding outfit to shop for! =)

I glanced at the calendar today and realized the end of the month is this week!  March is right around the corner...CRAZY!  I'm personally thrilled...that just means we are even closer to spring arriving.  This winter has been a long one so far and I'm ready to be able to leave my house without freezing to death!  I've been eyeing several great spring pieces on many of my favorite shopping sites and would love to be able to wear some of them!

Speaking of things I like to wear...I thought today would be a great day to bust out my series "Style It" again!  It's been a while since I've worn the "Sweet-Tart Tunic" that I grabbed from Anthropologie on sale last year so I thought it would be a great item to pull out and remix!  Here's how I styled it:

Original Polyvore set for this look can be found HERE

Sweet-Tart Tunic-Anthropologie
Artist's Study Cardigan-Anthropologie
Ultimate Skinny Jeans-Banana Republic
Shimmer Dust Belt-Anthropologie
Miz Mooz "Siri" Knee-High Boots-Endless (now Amazon)
Rock Candy Necklace-Anthropologie
Double Hoop Earrings-Banana Republic
Marc by Marc Jacobs "Henry Chrono" Watch-Piperlime
Tribute Bracelet-Stella & Dot
Bubble Bracelet-Very Jane
Ring-Forever 21

Belting this tunic was the way to go for me...it's a little baggy so I'll probably always wear it with a belt of some sort.

Here's two more ways I've either worn this cute tunic or am still planning to:

Just call me Meredith Grey...

So last night I turned on Grey's Anatomy (yes, I still watch faithfully!) and lo and behold what do I see? This sweater...MY sweater!  On Meredith Grey!  Except she's pregnant in hers.  I am definitely not.  That ship has sailed.

Every once in a while I'll spot something on TV either in a show or a commercial that I own...it's kinda funny.  I guess it's bound to happen occasionally.  One time my son even spotted a coat I owned on a Disney channel show...he yelled out "Mom, that's your coat!!!"  Thankfully it wasn't on a 10 year old or anything. =)  Do you ever spot things you own on TV?  I've seen things from Anthro, J Crew, Old Navy, Gap...things from all over!

Today ended up being the start to our unexpected three-day weekend.  It's a snow day without the snow!  A sheet of ice blanketed our city through the night so getting the buses out was a little dangerous, to say the least.  My kids are loving it...no school=pj day and lots of fun at home!  It's so fun to watch them all play together nicely.  So far so good.  By 3pm when they're back to fighting over toys and the TV I may feel differently. =)

Hope you have a great weekend!

Girly-girl

Once in a while I wear an outfit that truly makes me feel like a girly-girl and this was one of those outfits:

Original Polyvore set for this look can be found HERE

Puckered Placket Turtleneck-Anthropologie
Peppered Striped Skirt-Anthropologie
Tights-Forever 21
Seychelles "Two Birds" Sandals-Nordstrom
Necklace-Stella & Dot
Marc by Marc Jacobs "Henry Chrono" Watch-Piperlime
Tribute Bracelet-Stella & Dot

Dew Drop Earrings-Anthropologie
Geometric Bouquet Ring-J Crew

I'm a few weeks behind in posting...I actually wore this to church one Sunday back at the end of January.  This skirt is an oldie, but a goodie.  It's taken me a while to find something to pair with it that I really like, but this worked for me.  The bold blue of the top really paired nicely with it.

What does it take for you to look in the mirror and really feel "girly"?

A few Anthro Fitting Room reviews...and the J Crew No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Clover Tweed!!!

Happy Tuesday!

Oh, how I wish every weekend was at least 3 days long!!!   We had a great few days off and I enjoyed everything from a date night, a hair appointment (bye-bye low-lights, hello blonde!), a little retail therapy, church, a little exercise, some yummy dinners, booking a weekend trip with my BFF for this spring, swim lessons for the kids and we even capped the weekend off with some ice cream at our favorite local ice cream shop, Graeter's last night since it hit a balmy 55 degrees!  I had to laugh...my BFF said it was 55 degrees in CA last night and she was bundled up on the couch in a blanket trying to get warm...funny how 55 degrees can mean such different things in different parts of the country!

So here we are, back to our regularly scheduled programs. Kids were off to school this morning and #3 and I headed to open gym for him to burn some energy off.   I thought I'd blog a little too and do a little recap of my shopping trip this weekend...there was a little Anthro involved! =)  I tried on a handful of things, not a ton.  I found a few things I really liked though!

in Black (only motif available)

This top has been at the top of my wish list since I saw it pop up on the website...I just love the colors, the design and the shape of the top.  I tried this on in a size small because it was the smallest my store had, and found it to be too big.  You can still get the basic idea though.  It's a little sheer, not horrible, but I'd probably wear a cami underneath for extra coverage.  The colors are super vibrant which I love, and it can be paired with pants or tucked into a skirt easily.  Overall I was in love with this top from the second I put it on.  I asked the sales associate if they had anymore X-Small's in the store and they didn't...she said the top was uber-popular and they were selling fast!  Since I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket from a giveaway I won on Moody Girl In Style's Blog last month I had my store go ahead and order it for me in the X-Small and it's on it's way to me now.  Can't wait to get it!

in Crimson

This could be considered the Sveta Peasant Blouse's fraternal twin...Silvi.  It's the same shirt, just a solid instead of a print.  I was able to try this one on in an X-Small and the fit was good.  As you can see, the color is a gorgeous bright red, and the top itself is a little sheer, so an under layer is recommended.  I LOVE this top and will be watching it to go on sale, for sure.  Wish listed!

in Blue (left) and Green (right) motifs

I love stripes...they always grab my attention, so when I saw this top online, I knew I'd have to give it a go!  I usually have a thing against bird prints but for some reason, the bird print in the green motif peaked my interest a little...go figure.  Maybe I'm branching out?!   I tried both of these on in size X-Small and they were both good fits.  I will say the blue motif fell shorter than the green motif for some reason, even though they were the same size, so I'm not sure if this is the same across the board, or if it was just this particular one I tried on.  I honestly would have brought one of these home with me, but I couldn't decided which I liked better...so they stayed put...for now.  What do you think?  Which do you prefer?

in Navy (but it actually looks purple)

I tried this on in an X-Small and it fit good.  The shirt is meant to be a little loose, but it's certainly not overwhelmingly big.  I grabbed this in a deep purple color and ended up really liking it.  It's very comfortable and casual, but can be dressed up with some fun jewelry too.  The back detail is very fun..it has a few buttons in the middle that pulls it in a bit, giving it some shape (of course I forgot to take a picture of that part...see product shot for that).  I decided to bring this top home with me the other night as it is great for all seasons with the sleeve length and honestly, I just didn't want to take it off!  I'm a fan!  It comes in a million colors...I could easily pick this up in a few of them!

Pink motif (size X-Small on left, Small on right)

This top was another good find the other night...I love the cute twist detailing on the chest and the overall look of the shirt itself.  I tried it on in both an X-Small and a Small, and to be honest, I left this one at the store because I couldn't decide which fit I liked better!  I like the longer length of the small, but felt the arms were a little baggy.  The X-Small fits pretty good but the sleeves are a little tighter.  UGH!  What's a girl to do?  I'll have to give this one another try-on and see what I'm feeling another time I suppose.  Overall though, I really liked this one and will be adding it to my closet at some point...wish listed!

in Red motif (only motif available)

This blouse was another winner in my book...it's soooo cute!  I have a serious thing for Peasant Blouses lately... I like them all!  I tried this on in a size 0 and the fit was perfect.  It definitely seems to run big.  I can think of so may ways to wear this cute blouse...the colors are awesome!  I'm gonna see how long I can wait until I give in and add this one to my closet....I'll be chanting "sale" loudly for a while probably!

So those were the best of my fitting room finds this time around at Anthro.  I did also pop into J Crew for a second to see if I could spot this lovely:

This skirt is calling my name!  It is GORGEOUS!  I love everything about it. I'm thinking it would make a cute Easter Sunday skirt, am I right??!!  I was able to find the skirt in my size to try on:

(Yes, that's me being too lazy to get all the way undressed to try the skirt on...whoops!  You get the idea).

I tried this on in my regular J Crew No 2 Pencil Skirt size, size 0, and the fit was spot on.  It was perfect! I am head over heels for this cute skirt and plan to add it to my closet, no question.  Just trying to hold out for a great promo or sale...crossing my fingers!

So did you do any shopping over the weekend?  Have you tried on any of the items I tried on above?  Do you own any of them?  What do you think?  To be honest, February hasn't been a big shopping month for me, which is great for my wallet!  I've picked up just a few things here and there, and have tried to focus more on remixing what's already in my closet.  It's been fun!  I like the challenge remixing brings!  March will probably be more of the same...not a ton of shopping except maybe when we are in Paris...I've already warned my husband that I reserve the right to pick out something fabulous.  How can I not?  It's PARIS!  =)

Hope you're having a great day!

Little Black Maxi Dress

Happy Friday!!!  And happy three-day weekend ahead! I have lots of fun things planned this weekend...hopefully this cold will go away ASAP so I can enjoy it all!  Tonight is date night with hubby, and then tomorrow I have a hair appointment to get a cut and color (thank heavens...it needs it bad!!!).  After that I'm heading to the mall to do a few returns and a bit of shopping!  I'm on the lookout for a few things for the kiddos and perhaps a few things to take with me on our trip to England next month.  You never know what gems you might find while out and about!  Sunday we'll spend as a family and Monday....no plans yet.  We'll see!!

What are you up to this weekend??

So I've mentioned before, sometimes I just feel like wearing a dress.  Maxi dresses are perhaps the most socially acceptable and closest thing to pajamas you can wear so of course I love them for their comfort level.  I don't think to wear them that often in the winter because I worry my legs won't stay as warm as they could in jeans but recently I found that to be a myth.  I wore this on a FREEZING cold day and was perfectly fine.  What's fun is that you can wear leggings or knee-high socks underneath to keep warm and no one will be the wiser!

Original Polyvore set for this look can be found HERE

Cinch & Flow Maxi-Anthropologie
Wildcat Cardigan-J Crew
Split Surface Belt-Anthropologie
Miz Mooz "Siri" Knee-High Boots-Amazon
Tarn Necklace-Anthropologie
Baroness Bliss Teardrop Earrings-Ruche
Flower Bud Ring-J Crew

This maxi is one of my all-time favorite items I've picked up from Anthropologie over the years I think.  It was an even sweeter buy because I scored it for just $19.99!!!  Ahhh, love me a good deal!  I loved the simplicity of it...you can mix and match it to death!  It's my little black maxi dress (LBMD).  It's served me well!

When is the last time you pulled out a maxi dress?  Do you avoid them in the winter?  Or altogether?  Or do you have a small collection just waiting to be worn?  Confession time! =)

Hope your three-day weekend is fab!  Enjoy!

Love Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope you are all spoiled by those you love today!  It's the perfect day to spoil those you love, don't ya think?  I happen to love Valentines...to me it's not so much about the romance, as it is about love.  That's why I usually call it love day instead of Valentines day.  Telling those we love, friends and family, that we indeed love them and cherish them...that's what it's all about! =)

So I've been sick the past 24 hours with a massive cold that came out of nowhere.  I spent the better part of yesterday on the couch, miserable.  I woke up this morning feeling better, thankfully.  Not 100%, but good enough.  Good thing...I have a class party to go to today!  We don't have any big plans tonight...instead I'm surprising hubby with a date tomorrow night.  I usually put it on his shoulders to plan the date nights but I thought this year for love day I'd plan one.  He doesn't know it yet. =)  He's a total meat and potatoes guy so I got reservations at a steakhouse and then we're going to go see a movie he wants to see...Warm Bodies.  He thinks it looks kinda funny.  Trust me, for me to give in to go see this movie really is showing the love.  Not my kind of thing.  But you never know, maybe it'll be funny (fingers crossed).  It actually got 78% on Rotten Tomatoes!  It'll be fun to have a night out, no matter what.

Do you have any fun plans to celebrate Valentine's??

I haven't snapped a picture yet of what I'm wearing today, but here's a picture of what I wore a few weeks ago...it has a little pink in it so it'll pass as Valentine's Day attire. =)

Original Polyvore set for this look can be found HERE

Cardigan-Banana Republic
Jeggings-American Eagle
Necklace-Fossil
Repercussive Light Earrings-Anthropologie
Candy Bowl Ring-Banana Republic

I scored this cute tee for just $12 on sale at my local Gap last month...I'll take it, thank you very much!  I'm seriously having great luck at Gap lately!  It's perfect to layer now, or wear alone later when the sun comes back.  Which I hope is sooner than later...the groundhog promised and I'm holding him to it!

I'm off to get my day started...whatever your plans are for today, I hope you have a great one!
Happy Valentine's from me to you!

I had a great weekend...nothing too exciting but after a busy week it was perfect.  I even had an hour and a half to myself between dropping my son off at a birthday party and picking him up.  I decided to run over to Hobby Lobby to pick some things up for a class Valentines Day party happening this week at my son's school (yay for being room mom!) and then decided to pop into Gap for a bit.  While there I found this cute top that I ended up bringing home with me...I think it will be perfect to wear on Valentine's Day this week!

I had a 40% off one full price item coupon with me so it brought the price down to just around $30.  Not bad!

I think I'll wear it like this for Valentine's Day:

Gap Colorblock Pop Sweater/ AE Jeggings/ DV by Dolce Vita "Pilar" Booties/ Earl Grey Necklace

Or maybe this:

Gap Colorblock Pop Sweater/ AG Stevie Color Denim/ Armadillo Necklace

Gap Colorblock Pop Sweater/ AG Stevie Color Denim/ Armadillo Necklace by jennifoundinmycloset featuring ag+adriano+goldschmied

I happen to love it mixed with mint...if you couldn't already tell.  =)  If I wear it with the mint jeans I'd probably have to switch out the flats for boots though since it's suppose to be in the 40's still.  To be honest that will probably seem warm to me after the really cold weather we've had the past few weeks!

In honor of Valentine's Day this week I thought I'd share an outfit I recently wore that had a little red in it...

Original Polyvore set for this look can be found HERE

Blouse-Nordstrom (old)
Premium Sheen Cardigan-Anthropologie
AG Stevie Ankle Denim-Anthropologie
Miz Mooz "Siri" Knee-High Boots-Endless (now Amazon)
Colorblocked Strands Necklace-Anthropologie

Geometric Bouquet Ring-J Crew

If you don't already own red jeans I say go get some...they're the best!  I'm sure I'll be wearing them at some point this week with Valentines Day coming!

Do you like to wear pinks and reds in honor of Valentine's Day?

Alrighty, time to get my week started!  I was up early this morning to register my youngest for preschool starting this fall...I can't believe he'll be starting preschool!  Now I'm headed for my Monday morning date with my treadmill...then it's off to swimming lessons for my little guy.  Busy day ahead!

Have a great one!

Don't knock them till you try...seriously, they're REALLY good! They'd be a fun Valentines Day treat!

SIX.

Cardigans are a girl's best friend

First up, have you entered my Valentine's Day giveaway?  A $50 gift card to Shabby Apple could be all yours!  The giveaway will be open until Sunday, February 10th at 11:59pm EST so enter today!!!

Do you pack up your summer clothes during the winter so only your winter clothes remain?  I don't.  I keep everything in y closet all year-long.  I've never really looked at an item and thought "You're only for summer" or "Can't wear that now...it's winter".  The few exceptions would be sandals in the winter and tweed skirts in the summer.  Those are pretty much no-go's for me.  Other than that though, I say everything is fair game year-round.  I get so much more out of my closet that way!

Take for instance this top I'm wearing below...it's short sleeved and pretty springy with the bright floral print.  At first one may think it's great for the warm weather months but I think it's perfect for January or February too...with a cardigan, of course!

Bowman V-Neck-Anthropologie
Open Cardigan-Gap Factory
Jeggings-American Eagle
Boots-Urban Outfitters
Colorblocked Strands Necklace-Anthropologie
Strung Hoop Earrings-Anthropologie
Ring-Forever 21

Whoever invented cardigans was a genius.  Thank you to whomever came up with that idea...you're allowing women everywhere to get more out of their closet year-round!  =)

Are you a cardigan girl?  Do you collect them like me?  What's your favorite cardigan in your closet?

Stripes and Dots

First up, have you entered my Valentine's Day giveaway?  A $50 gift card to Shabby Apple could be all yours!  The giveaway will be open until Sunday, February 10th at 11:59pm EST so enter today!!!

***************

Welcome to Tuesday...aka the "crazy day" in our house.  So many activities and people going every which way on Tuesdays for some reason!  And today, just to make it a little more crazy and interesting, I have to come up with some sort of baked good that has a Cub Scouting theme for my son's baked good auction tonight at his Pack Meeting.  Thank heavens for Pinterest is all I have to say!!! =)  That's ok...being busy is good!  Especially in the winter when it's so easy to never want to leave you house because the snow won't stop falling and it's 12 degrees outside.  BRRRR!   Being busy gets me out of my house so it's a good thing.

I have a quick outfit post for you today...I wore this look a few weeks back.  It mixes a few of my favorite prints--stripes and polka dots!

Original Polyvore set for this look can be found HERE

Are you still addicted to stripes and polka dots?  I can't seem to get enough!  Especially polka dots...love them!

Hope you have a great day!
