A few sale scores in my OOTD and "glow" lotion anyone????

Happy Monday all!

Just a reminder...I've cleaned my closet out yet again (spring cleaning!!!) and listed a whole new set of items on Shop Jenni's Closet.  Head on over to take a look!  Items listed are from Anthropologie, J Crew, Loft, DownEast Basics, Gap, etc.

Hope you had a great weekend!  It's back to the grind this morning...I've got a crazy schedule going on this week up until I hop a plane for Denver on Thursday.  Guess I'll have to really earn this little getaway of mine!  Unfortunately the weather forecast for Colorado keeps looking colder and colder for this coming weekend so I may be dragging out the boots again.  What is up with everywhere I go being cold this year? (with the exception of Arizona last month...that was perfect)  All well...we certainly won't let it ruin our fun!

This morning I wanted to share an outfit with you that I wore to church last Sunday.  I was so excited to score this cute skirt on sale at J Crew when it finally got marked down...I'd been stalking it for quite some time.  I love pairing pinks and greens together so this combo came to mind easily:

Original Polyvore Set idea can be found HERE

Garden Aura Silky Blouse-Ruche
No 2 Pencil Skirt in Clover Tweed-J Crew
Nori T-Strap Heels-Anthropologie
Necklace-Stella & Dot
Classic Pave Link Bracelet-J Crew
Golden Totem Bracelet Set-Anthropologie
Flower Bud Ring-J Crew

The shoes were another sale score, at Anthropologie this time!  I loved the unique design on the heels...kind of fun, right?!

And hello super white legs...oh my goodness, time to break out the "glow" lotion (it's not really called that I know, I just happen to call it that...lol)!  I've used a few "natural glow" type lotions in the past and was happy with the little extra color they gave me.  What self-tanning/"glow" lotion have you used and been happy with in the past?  Have you already started using it this season to prep for summer?  Or are you just now getting a glimpse of your pail self like me, realizing it's go-time?  Fess-up! =)

Have a great day!

Shop My Closet (NEW BLOG SALE!!!)...and a recent OOTD!

Happy Friday!

First up this morning, I wanted to let you know I've cleaned my closet out yet again (spring cleaning!!!) and listed a whole new set of items on Shop Jenni's Closet this morning.  Head on over to take a look!  Items listed are from Anthropologie, J Crew, Loft, DownEast Basics, Gap, etc.

Second, did you know Mother's Day is just a few weeks away?  Holy cow, where does the time go???  Alison over at Get Your Pretty On asked me and a few other mommy bloggers if we'd share what's at the top of our Mother's Day wish lists this year to get the ball rolling on shopping for the big day!  You can bet there's some great things on those lists!!  Click HERE to head on over to take a look at some great gift ideas for the moms in your life.  I loved seeing what the other lovely ladies came up with!

Third, let's talk FASHION!

Earlier this week I pulled out my Zara Blouse I picked up in Paris over spring break.  I absolutely fell in love with this cute blouse when I tried it on the first time.  For it's inaugural appearance I paired it with the mint Rosette necklace you've already seen in my previous post, skinny jeans and some metallic wedge sandals.

Rosette Necklace-GroopDealz
Double Hoop Earrings-Banana Republic
Golden Totem Bracelets-Anthropologie
Ring-Forever 21

I washed the Zara Blouse later in the week (following the tag instructions to gentle wash) and the blouse, I'm sad to say, shrunk in length and fit.  It still fits ok, but it doesn't have that great flowy feel to it that it had when I wore it before.  I'm so bummed!  We don't have any Zara stores here in Ohio so I can't even go re-buy it.  Has this ever happened to you?   Anyone else ever have a one hit wonder before their laundry machine ate it up?  BOO!  Perhaps it would have fared better at the dry cleaners.  If anyone happens upon this blouse in their local store in a size small over the weekend I certainly wouldn't be sad if you purchased it for me and sent it my way!  I'd of course pay you back for the blouse as well as the shipping cost.  I'd just order it online but it's sold out in my size. =(

All well...live and learn, right?!  Don't always trust the "Care Label"!

On a brighter note, it is Friday!!!  Hope you enjoy your weekend!

J Crew and Anthropologie Fitting Room Reviews-New Arrivals (mid-April 2013)

Hi all!

On Tuesday I was finally able to make it down to the mall to make some returns at Anthropologie.  While I was there I was hoping to try a few things on, especially the Bottlegreen dress that I was thinking might be a great option to wear to my little brother's wedding next month.  Luckily they had it in stock so I grabbed it, along with a few other items and headed back to the fitting room.  Here's a few reviews for you:

Katrine Peplum Top-red motif

I tried this on in a size small and it fit ok, but the back, near the zipper was a little roomy.  The arm holes on this top were also very big.   REALLY big.   I'd like to try it on in an XS just to compare.  I would always have to wear something underneath or a cardi over it to keep covered up in that area with a small.  I did like the length of the size small a lot though...it felt perfect.  The lace is really pretty but super delicate which I worry about.  My store only had the top in this red color...I'd love to see the other options in person to see what they look like.  I'm wish listing this one for now and will think it over after trying on an XS.

Twisted & Pleated Tee

(I spy my little shopping buddy in the background waiting patiently to leave...lol)

I've always wanted a great white t-shirt...one that doesn't have the normal crew neck or v-neck, but that also didn't have too big of a round scoop neck.  Is that really asking too much?  It was until now!  I tried this cute top on in a size XS and it worked great.  It is by no means fitted, but the back has a detail to pull in the fabric, keeping it from looking like a tent and giving it shape.  I love that it has a high-low bottom, giving it great dimension.  It looks cute both alone and layered with a cardigan...see below:

The one down side to this tee is that it is slightly see-through so I plan to wear a cami underneath it for extra coverage.   Honestly though, I have yet to find a white tee that's not a bit see-through.  I really don't know if they exist!  So I'm willing to look past that slight issue and make it work.  This cute tee came home with me and I'd love to add a few more colors to my closet once they hit sale.  Wish listed!

I tried this dress on in a size 2 and it fit like a glove.  It's a beautiful minty-turquoise color, perfect for spring and summer.  I was hoping this dress would be knee-length on me and it was!  Score!  I did fill out the top of the dress completely (and I don't have much going on up top) so if you're quite blessed up there you may need to size up.  There isn't a ton of give in the fabric of this dress and it's pretty form fitted through the top.   Overall I loved everything about this dress and I decided it was perfect for the wedding next month.  When I tried the dress on I just threw on this cardigan over it to cover up, but when I walked out to look in the mirror the SA in the dressing room commented how much she liked the combination of the dress and cardigan together.  Lucky for me, these are the exact colors my sis-in-law to-be chose as her wedding colors (turquoise/mint/navy) so it must have been fate.  I tried the cardigan on in an X-Small and the fit was right on.  I take X-Small's in all Tabitha cardigans so it runs true to size for the brand.  The colors are bold and striking and the print is unique.  Definitely a fun cardigan to add to my collection.  Both the cardi and dress came home with me and I have tentative plans to style them like this for the wedding next month:

Bottlegreen Dress/ Aquascope Cardi/ Candy Cluster Pendant Necklace

Bottlegreen Dress/ Aquascope Cardi/ Candy Cluster Pendant Necklace by jennifoundinmycloset featuring high heel wedge sandals

And just for fun, here's what my three boys will be wearing...sticking to the same color palette (the tie is navy):

Now to find something for my husband...

After my stop at Anthropologie I had a little time to kill before I had to head home so I headed over to J Crew.  I knew some new arrivals were due to arrive in-store this week and was so excited to see my store had already received some of them!  I only grabbed a few things to take in the dressing room due to time constraints...the items that grabbed my attention the most were these:

Merino Tippi Sweater in Graphic Floral

I tried this on in both an X-Small and a Small and found the X-Small to be the best fit (pictured above).  I absolutely fell in love with this sweater the minute I put it on!  The background color is like a heathered light blue and that paired with the coral and mint flowers is perfection.  Such a pretty color combination!  I also happened to love it with the necklace I was wearing that day so that helped talk me into it.  =)   The sweater is lightweight but not see through at all--perfect for Spring.  I plan to wear this with jeans and skirts...it's perfect to dress up or down.  I highly recommend this one!!

The print of this top is one of the key prints in the newest release...it came in this short-sleeve blouse, a button down shirt, a skirt, pants, swimwear, a collection sweater, dress and a scarf.  I LOVE the print so naturally I gravitated to the blouse.  I tried it on in a size 0 and a size 2 and found the size 2 to be the better fit.  The size 0 was WAY too short on my long torso.  The size 2 is pictured above.  I have mixed feelings about this top as it didn't fit me fabulously.  The neckline is really high, and the back (which I forgot to snap a picture of) has an opening at the top and a deep criss-cross seam which makes it difficult to feel covered up.  I would wear a cami with this top if purchased.  Overall I loved the print, and the idea of it, but I'm just not sure it was executed the best it could have been.  For now I'll pass but may keep an eye on it for a killer sale in the future.  I do however love the scarf in the same print and wouldn't mind adding that to my closet at some point! =)

I also loved the No 2 Pencil Skirt in Navy-White Stripe but didn't get the chance to try it. I grabbed it online yesterday with the sale and free shipping promo so crossing my fingers it works!

Have you popped into an Anthropologie or J Crew lately?  Have you picked up any of the newest releases from either store?  What do you have your eye on?  I'd love to hear!

Have a great day!

Spring Transition Looks

Happy Monday!

Hope you had a great weekend!  I'm looking ahead to a busy few weeks before I get to go on a little getaway to celebrate my BFF's birthday.  We're headed to Denver, CO so if anyone has any great suggestions for day spas, restaurants, boutiques or shopping, let me know!  I'd love to hear!  Neither of us have been there before so any tips would be appreciated!

Now, I know it's April, and spring technically arrived like a month ago, but you sure could have fooled me!! It's been CHILLY up in here!  The temps this week are suppose to be all over the board again, which makes getting dressed in the morning a little challenging.  I want to wear something that will keep me warm in the mornings, but then not get too hot in the afternoon if the sun heats things up a bit.  Tricky, tricky!  I have found layering to be one of the best options.  Layers are a girls' best friend in these transitional weather phases!  Shoes can sometimes be the trickiest part of dealing with this type of weather, but I've come up with a rule of thumb...if it's suppose to hit mid-50's or higher, flats are a go.  Anything colder than that then it's back to boots!

I had a reader email me for some Spring transitional outfit ideas so I played around in Polyvore a little and came up with a few options...

What I Wore Today

What I Wore Today by jennifoundinmycloset featuring j. crew jewelry

I wore this look a few days ago (stay tuned for an outfit post) and it was perfect for the in between temps.  The cardi was light weight to help with the breezy morning but not too heavy in the afternoon sun.

Another layered look, along with some "shooties"...covering your feet just enough to stay warm if need be.

Last week I wore an outfit that I felt was perfect for the in between weather...and it included a tunic which is my new favorite thing to wear! =)

Minty Fresh

This year mint is back in a big way.  It was one of last year's "it" colors and it continues to be one of my favorites to wear.  Yesterday I decided to rock a little mint:

Knit Sleeve Chiffon Top-Forever 21
Denim Jacket-J Crew Factory
1969 Always Skinny Neon Skinny Jeans-Gap
Seychelles "Hot & Bothered" Sandal-Nordstrom
Mixed Spectra Necklace-Anthropologie
Rosalinda Tonal Drop Earrings-Anthropologie
Golden Totem Bracelet Set-Anthropologie
Geometric Bouquet Ring-J Crew

Here's a few other cute mint hued items I have my eye on right now (because you can never have too much of a good thing, right?!)

Anthropologie

Red Dress Boutique

Bloom

Piperlime

Nordstrom

Anthropologie

I'm thinking the Bottlegreen Dress (first one pictured)  could be a cute dress to wear to my little brother's wedding in May...definitely plan to try that one on!

Lastly, I just wanted to say my heart and prayers go out to the people of Boston and the many runners, supporters, organizers, etc of the Boston Marathon.  I had a good friend running it this year as part of Team Hoyt and was so grateful to know she was ok.  Her husband was at the finish line across the street from where the explosions went off and witnessed it all...I can't imagine the horror.  It's so sad that we can't even run a race anymore without worrying about what might happen.  It's so amazing to see interviews and news stories of the people who ran and say they'll be back next year to do it again.  It won't stop them.  And it shouldn't.  Even though one small act of terror (albeit a horrible, history making act) can have such a large impact on our country in such a terrible way, it's the good of the majority that will overcome and reign supreme in the end.  I know it.

Have a happy day!

Changing it up...and an Anthro sale!

I had a hair appointment over the weekend to get a trim and highlight...I went in with roots and straight hair and left with a blonder, shorter, curlier look!  It was just what I wanted and needed to start the new season!

Of course it always looks cute and exactly how you want it when you leave the salon...the trick is figuring out how to recreate it the next day!

Yesterday I gave it a go, and came pretty close.  It was a little more curly when I did it instead of looking like beachy waves from the day before.  I need to learn to leave out more of the ends of my hair when curling it...I'll keep practicing.  Just in case you're wondering, I'm using a 1 1/4" curling iron barrel to curl my hair now.  It gives it a wavier curl than a smaller barrel will.  Here's how it turned out when I did it, along with what I wore to church yesterday:

Calla Asymmetric Dress-Anthropologie
Shimmer Dust Belt-Anthropologie
Joppa Pumps-Anthropologie
Kulfi Strands Necklace-Anthropologie
Pinspark Cuff-Anthropologie
Leafing So Soon? Earrings-ModCloth
Pop Stone Ring-Banana Republic

And how fun to wake up to a sale at Anthro this morning!  I picked up a few things from my wish list that hit sale:

in Pink

in Mint

I've tried both items on before and loved them...so excited to add both to my closet!  The top will go great with jeans or skirts and the mint skirt had me at hello...LOVE!

Did you pick anything up on sale at Anthropologie this morning?

Alrighty...off to start my Monday!  We're headed to the gym and then running some errands...typical Monday around here!

Have a great day!

My Mommy Fashion Diaries

I'm a stay at home mom.  I don't work outside the home (unless you count my many trips to the grocery store, Target, the doctor, etc), I often times don't see many people in a day's time (especially if I'm just staying home to do laundry or clean), and I could probably get away with staying in my gym clothes most days without anyone knowing.

The thought is tempting some days, trust me.  And I may have done just that on Monday. Maybe. No judgement, thank-you-very-much.  Some days it's just necessary without having any guilt involved, am I right?!!

That being said, this mommy has decided getting dressed up makes me feel better and be more productive. Do I get the occasional "What are you all dressed up for?" or "Wow, where are you going?" comments just for throwing on something that matches?  CONSTANTLY!  I say it's never a bad thing to try to look nice though so I don't mind the remarks. So go for it ladies!  Go into your closets, find something cute you love, put it on and own it!  Get dressed like you're going somewhere today.  And maybe even venture out to run an errand or two!

You know you were probably going out anyway...might as well look cute. =)

Here was my "errand running" look yesterday...I was trying my hardest to channel warm weather with some bright colors.

Original Polyvore Set for this look can be found HERE

1969 Legging Skimmer Jeans-Gap
Mossimo Waylon Harachi Cork Wedge Sandals-Target

Apparently my bright colors didn't do the trick...it's pouring rain here this morning.  Ugh.

Can't win 'em all I suppose!

Happy Thursday!

Boutique Shopping on the web...and an OOTD!

Boutique shopping has become a whole new industry thanks to Facebook and Pinterest.  I have found a whole new world of online shops thanks to other people's "Likes", "Shares" and "Pins" of different boutiques.   Boutiques are a great place to pick up pieces that you may not find at the big box stores.  Most boutiques I shop at are out of state.  I simply follow them on Facebook and watch for items to be posted that I like, then I'll either click, email or call to order.  Of course there is always a risk that the item might not work because you can't try it on until you get it, and often times there are no reviews of any sort to read, so I try to stick to items that are inexpensive and that I think I can make work even if it runs a bit big or small.  To date I've been pretty lucky with the items I have purchased.  There is the occasional disappointment but none so big that I have regret over.

One item that I purchased from a boutique a few months ago has become a great staple layering piece in my closet.  Last week I pulled out my ivory semi-sheer polka dot top and paired it with a bold bottom and fun statement necklace to brighten it up a bit.

Here's how it looked in real life:

Polka Dot Top-Quincee's Boutique
AG Stevie Ankle Denim-Anthropologie
Miz Mooz "Siri" Knee-High Boots
Naturalist Gem Layer Necklace-Anthropologie
Pinspark Cuff-Anthropologie
Tribute Bracelet-Stella & Dot
Marc by Marc Jacobs "Henry Chrono" Watch-Piperlime
Double Hoop Earrings-Banana Republic
Linked Circle Ring-Anthropologie

Have you joined in on the boutique bandwagon? What are some of your favorite shops?  Here's a list with links of some of the boutiques I watch (some are the FB pages and some are the actual sites):

(Disclaimer--I am not endorsing any of these shops and have not purchased through all of them myself.  They are simply a sampling of the boutiques I like to look at and occasionally order from).

Happy Browsing! =)

Spring has Sprung!

Happy Monday!

Hope your weekend was fab!  It was a busy start to the weekend for us, but ended on a relaxing note as we enjoyed our church's semi-annual general conference messages from the comfort of home.  Always uplifting!  Saturday morning I hosted a baby shower for my cute friend of mine whose due in less than 2 weeks...it was so fun!  I decided on a "Favorite things" theme...all the gifts people brought for the mom to be were favorite things of theirs (she already has a few kiddos so instead of baby gifts we did gifts just for her!).  I always love seeing what other people like!  It was a fun time and turned out well.  Here's a picture I snapped of the tablescape:

Onto a little fashion...

Oh my goodness, spring has finally arrived all over the place!  I'm loving all the fun, bright colors and warm weather apparel I'm seeing across the web!  Since Anthropologie is of course one of my favorite hot spots for clothing, I did some playing around on Polyvore with some of their newest offerings that I think are perfect for the new season.  I threw in some other brands as well for good measure.  I created some sets for you that highlight a few of my favorites.  The sets include both new, semi-new (recent sale) and older items that I already have in my closet.  I always try to mix old and new!  Click on the sets to find links to the items.

3/4 Sleeve Floral Border Print Cardi/ Smocked Cadence Top/ Mystic Tieback Bib Necklace/ Lemon Stick Wedges

3/4 Sleeve Floral Border Print Cardi/ Smocked Cadence Top/ Mystic Tieback Bib Necklace/ Lemon Stick Wedges by jennifoundinmycloset featuring a bib necklace

Yes please, to every piece!  First of all, how cute is that cardi?!  Must have.  And the top is simply adorable.  It has a peplum quality about it in a longer length which is perfect for my long torso!  SOLD!  The Gap jeans are a recent purchase and I love them...just enough "destroyed" look without being too messy.  I took them in my regular Gap jeans size, size 0.  I just picked these cute earrings up last week when they went on sale.  They will go with EVERYTHING!  The necklace, bracelets and sandals are items I already own.

#2

Split Stripes Pullover/ Gap Legging Skimmer Jeans/ Mixed Spectra Necklace/ Shimmered Seagrove T-Straps

This shirt is adorable on and comes in three different motifs.  I usually have a serious dislike of all things with birds on them but for some reason I'm digging this cute print.  Guess I'm stepping outside my box a little!  The jeans are a recent purchase from Gap and I took them in my normal Gap jeans size.  I will say, however, that they are much brighter than the picture shows.  They are a bright lemon yellow which is so fun for the warmer seasons!  All other items in the set are in my closet.

#3

Dot Always Skinny Skimmer Jeans/ Belted Cattleya Tunic/ Mixed Spectra Necklace/Waylan Harachi Cork Wedges

Dot Always Skinny Skimmer Jeans/ Belted Cattleya Tunic/ Mixed Spectra Necklace/Waylan Harachi Cork Wedges by jennifoundinmycloset featuring gap

I'm a huge fan of tunics and this one is no exception.  I love this festive print and the color as well.  I plan to try this on as soon as I have time to stop by my nearest Anthropologie.  The cute yellow bracelet is a new colorway of the same bracelet Anthro had this winter.  I helped my little brother pick out this bracelet in mint for his cute fiance this past Valentines day, and now I plan to pick this up for myself in yellow.  Love it!  The sandals are a recent purchase of mine.  I grabbed these at Target on one of my many trips to prepare for our vacations last month.  I love the metallic and the wedge feels super sturdy.  I'm not typically a huge fan of Target shoes, as they are often times very poorly made with cheap materials but these actually look and feel very well made and look more expensive than they are (only $30!).  I took them in an 8.5 (I usually wear an 8.5 or 9 in sandals).  The rest of the items in this set are are things I already own.

#4

Fluttered Tunic Henley/ AG Stevie Ankle Denim/ Ampay Necklace/ Marvilis Wedges

Fluttered Tunic Henley/ AG Stevie Ankle Denim/ Ampay Necklace/ Marvilis Wedges by jennifoundinmycloset featuring cropped pants

Sticking with the tunic theme...I loved this one!  It comes in several colorways but this was my favorite I think.  It's perfect for mixing and matching with different colored bottoms and sandals.  All I need is the tunic to be able to complete this look...I already have the other items in the set.

#5

Henley Peasant Top/ AG Stevie Neon Denim/ Figli Layer Necklace/ Gap Sandals

Henley Peasant Top/ AG Stevie Neon Denim/ Figli Layer Necklace/ Gap Sandals by jennifoundinmycloset featuring ag adriano goldschmied

This necklace....oh my.  LOVE it!  It's one of those must-have statement necklaces that Anthropologie is so good at serving up each season.  It will definitely be added to my collection at some point, for sure.  I also love this cute white peasant top.  Inevitably each spring I look for the perfect white top...it's like an innate reaction to the season change...weird, I know.  Very few years I find one, in all honesty.  I have high hopes for this one though!  I just hope it's not too boxy.  I'm planning to try it on next time I make it to Anthro.  I'm also loving these cute bow earrings...they'd be a great basic gold earring to have in rotation for summer. And there's that cute yellow bracelet again!  Love!  The rest of the items in this set are already in my closet (I own an almost identical pair of denim from Gap).

There are so many more great items I'm loving right now, I could go on and on!  I'm finding myself gravitating to a lot of tunics this season, perhaps because I'm seeing so many offered.  They are very flattering and I never have to worry about the length, which is always a plus.  Can't wait to get my hands on a few more!

What have you been eyeing this season?  Are you already sporting spring weather attire where you live?  What fab item have you bought lately that I must know about?  Please share!

I'll be back tomorrow with a recent outfit I wore so come on by!  Hope you have a great day!

I'm Back!

Hi all!  I'm back!!!

We got back Monday night from our European vacation and are finally settling back into things...still working on the laundry pile though. =)  What a trip we had..it was amazing!  We were on "go" mode nearly the whole time...we went go-go-go from early morning till night every day until around day 8 when we took a breather and just relaxed at home for the day.  In the end we went to Bath, Stonehenge, London, Paris, Brugge in Belgium, Cambridge and Windsor.  I can't wait to go back one day!  My favorite part of the trip was Paris...it was simply breathtaking.  That city had me the second I stepped off the train, literally.  One day we'll make our way back!

So how are you?!  Hopefully some of you were able to escape the cold weather that my friends here at home had while we were away.  It dumped snow on the first day of spring break here in our city.  That's the meanest joke ever, right?!  Today the sun is shining though so that's much better.

Just a quickie today as I'm headed to the gym for spin and then doing last minute prep for a baby shower I'm throwing tomorrow...no rest for the weary!  I thought I'd share a few pics with you from our trip...a few of my faves. =)

Stonehenge

Paris!

What I Wore while in Paris...this cute J Crew Boucle Peplum Jacket was perfect!  Please excuse the hair...my flat iron wasn't compatible with any of the plugs we had. =(

Buckingham Palace

Crepes and gelato...two food groups you add to your food pyramid when you vacation in Europe. =)

Harrods Goodies!  Fabulous red-orange leather bow gloves and chocolate came home with me.

Westminster Abbey

Phone Booth photo op...if you go to London you must oblige!

We took over 1,000 pictures...so many great sights and memories!  It was a trip of a lifetime!  You may notice I pretty much have on the same coat in every picture...that was because I wore that coat EVERYDAY!  We weren't expecting it to be as cold as it was so I only brought one heavier coat.  Let's just say I got my money's worth out of it! =)

I'll be back next week with regular outfit posts and some new favorite picks from across the web...so many new spring arrivals are out there!

Thanks for checking in!  Have a great weekend!
