Lookbook: New Year's Eve

Happy New Year's Eve!!! 

We are big fans of New Year's Eve at our house.  My kids love it because they get to stay up late (without getting in trouble...they are usually night owls anyways) and hubby and I love to throw a fondue party to spend the evening with friends.  We have about 25-30 people coming over tonight to celebrate s it should be a good time!

Of course you want to look your best on New Year's Eve so stressing over what to wear is common form.  I wasn't sure what I was going to wear until this morning...but I think I got it all figured out finally:

I rarely wear all black but I decided to wear a LBD with some black heels and add in some color with a statement necklace and belt.  I love the faux-leather sleeves on this dress...a fun little extra something to make it stand out.

I'm off to get my day started and get cleaning/cooking for our party tonight.  Lots to do!

Winter Wear

And just like that Christmas is over!  Hope you had a great one!  We had a fabulous day full of fun, food, "Frozen"(the movie), family (via phone calls) and friends.   It was perfect.

What did you get for Christmas?  I got a few fun things from friends and family...and maybe even a few things to me, from me.  Maybe.  (wink*wink) My favorite things, however, were the cute cards and homemade gifts from my kiddos.  Love those!

Modcloth "Uniquely You" Polyvore Challenge

I was recently contacted by Modcloth to see if I wanted to participate in their "Uniquely You" polyvore challenge this week.  I happen to love Modcloth so of course I said yes!  The challenge is to take an item from their site of their choosing and create a look with it using up to seven other Modcloth items to dress it up.  This was the dress they chose as the centerpiece this week:

I was excited to see they chose a "little black dress" because those are the most fun to accessorize!  Here's the look I came up with:

I love playing with color so I couldn't pass up the chance to add in some brightly colored tights and fabulous bold jewelry. Isn't that necklace is darling?!  And even though the shoes are black, there's a touch of whimsy with the polka dots.  Polka dots are one of my favorite patterns to work with!

Enjoying the Holidays

Happy day before the night before Christmas!  I can't believe Christmas is two days away...where did this month go?  It's been so busy between family activities, school things, the shop, Christmas parties and gatherings...it's been non-stop!  Like I always say though, busy is good.  I'd rather be busy than not, but you better believe I'm thrilled to be on "vacation" right now.  I love having my kids home and just enjoying time together.  The next two weeks will be great.

I thought the red was festive and this jacket is seriously one of my favorites.  I need to find more opportunities to wear it I think.  

So are you all ready for Christmas?  I think I almost am.  I have one more batch of caramels to make (this will make six total), cards have been sent and shopping is ALMOST done.  I thought I was done but when I wrapped all my presents the other night I found I'm a little off on the numbers...one kid has a few less than everyone else so I'm off to find a few more this afternoon to make it all even.  Heaven forbid one have more than any other! ;)  We've got some fun plans with friends this year.  We don't live by family so holidays are spent with friends if we stay home.  We're going bowling on Christmas Eve morning and then on Christmas day (in the afternoon) we're headed to the movie theater to see "Frozen" with a group of friends.  It'll be a low-key, fun Christmas which is just how I like it.

Target's Sam & Libby "Dominique" Pointed Toe Pump

I have fought the idea of wearing pointed toe pumps for years...I finally I gave in and grabbed my first pair.  I found these at Target and thought that was a good place to start since I wasn't sure how much I'd like them.  You know what?  I LOVE them!  I've been converted.  These were full price at my Target when I purchased them but for $40 you can't complain.  I also found the wine colored version for only $19.99 on sale the day I picked these up so those came home with me too.  They look much more expensive than they are, which I love!  I don't know that I would recommend them for someone who wears pumps all-day, every day, but for the occasional wear I say go for it!

Lydell NYC Thick Gold Chain Link Necklace

I have been wanting a solid, heavier gold chain link necklace for a while now and am so excited I found this.  I grabbed it for 50% off on Black Friday but you can still grab one for 40% until December 23rd with code NAUGHTYORNICE on Lydell's website.  It's beautiful, fantastic quality and has a good weight to it.  It also looks amazing on.

I recently started a business and am constantly taking my laptop back and forth from home to work.  I desperately needed a new bag that could hold my computer as well as double as my purse.  I also knew i wanted a black bag because the black purse I had previously been carrying was from Forever 21 about 6 years ago.  Time to move on.  I had a ton of rewards points from the Gap family to use so I was able to use those, along with a 35% discount at Piperlime for this fantastic bag.  It retails for just under $500 but I grabbed it for under $200 with all my discounts....I think it ended up being like 65% off when all was said and done.  It's my early Christmas present to myself from my husband. =)  I absolutely love it.  It's definitely an investment piece but one that I will use for YEARS to come.  I mean seriously, I use bags until they're completely worn out.  Remember...Forever 21 bag for 6 years...really, it's on it's last leg.  Highly recommend this gorgeous bag!

Happy Monday!

We had an unexpected three-day weekend here since last Friday was a snow-day for my kids and hubby.  I actually love snow days...anytime we can all avoid the daily grind I'm all for it!  I think it'll be back to the routine tomorrow...two more weeks of school till Christmas vacation though...not long now!

So on Black Friday I spent a little time in J Crew Factory and was excited to see the Printed Bow-Neck Top in person.

After reading Gigi's review on Instagram I assumed it would be too short on my long torso but wanted to give it a go anyways.  I tried on both size 0 and size 2 to compare.  Size 0 fit great and was a decent length...almost borderline short but doable.  Size 2 was too baggy but a good length. In the end I went with the better fit..size 0 came home with me and I wore it for the first time the other night:

You know when you find a top that is just SOOOO you?  That's how I felt about this one.  I'm so excited to add this top to my closet!  I remember when it came out in the retail store and thinking it was super cute but again too short so finding that it worked for me this time around was an added bonus!!

The Kate Spade Mini Bow Ring was another Black Friday find.  I LOVE it!!  I grabbed it in Rose Gold.

It would be the perfect gift to give to a girlfriend or sister this Christmas.

I guess you could say I had a bow-obsessed Black Friday this year.

In case you didn't get your fill on Black Friday, no worries...today it's even easier to shop for great deals as we can sit at home in our pj's and click away!  Speaking of Black Friday, how was yours??  Mine was fab.  Exhausting, but great.  Two girlfriends and I set out around 3:30am and hit the outlets for a few hours before heading down to the mall around 7am.  We spent several hours there before grabbing lunch at Chuy's and then making a stop at Target before getting home a little after 5pm.  It was a good day.  I found a few things for the kids, a few things for my hubby and a few goodies for me too. =)
