Friday Favorites

TGIF!

I am so excited for the weekend! We've had a busy week and I could definitely use a morning to sleep in.  Before that happens though, I'm going to enjoy my Friday...it's my favorite day of the week! To celebrate I'm bringing you a new list of Friday Favorites!  Just warning you...it's all about neutrals this week (my latest favorite).

Enjoy!

1.

This darling coat is such a great neutral! Animal print has always been a personal favorite and I absolutely love this new take on it. The sleeve length is so perfect for spring too...LOVE!  I was able to snag it for 40% off during a sale yesterday online...crossing my fingers it fits!

2.

Well there I go sneaking in some more fringe!!! I found this cute purse online this week and thought it was the perfect way to add some more fringe into my life in a more subtle way. At only $28.00 you can't go wrong!!!

3.

I'm kind of obsessed with jackets at the moment...they are great layering pieces and can add so much to a look. This off-white jacket caught my eye and I just couldn't help but add it to my cart. That waterfall  front, the mixed fabrics and textures...it had me at hello. Can't wait to try this one on!!

Kate Spade never disappoints when it comes to creating cute iPhone case covers. Thank goodness because I was struggling to find a new cover I liked!  This clear case with gold dots is just what I was looking for to dress up my most used accessory. Neutral but still unique and fun!

5.
and

Before going to NYFW this month I went into Sephora to look for a long lasting foundation with medium coverage. I certainly didn't want anything that looked heavy or unnatural but wanted something that had good coverage and would last a long time. The cute lady that was helping me said I HAD to try this Smashbox Studio Skin foundation and that the ONLY way to apply it was with the Beauty Blender. I had always kind of thought the Beauty Blender was an unnecessary make-up tool but after actually using it I'm hooked! I'm hooked to this foundation too! It is fantastic!  It really covers well without looking like it's caked on--it's super natural looking! I highly recommend it if you're looking for a new foundation!
Have you tried any of my latest favorites? Do you already own any of these? What do you think?

Snow may still be on the ground but I am beyond ready for warmer weather to show up! I'm in rebellion mode and have the mindset that if I dress for spring it will come...we'll see how that goes.  Soft pale colors always remind me of spring and this year I'm stocking up!  Peaches, pinks, light blues...I love them all!  Piper Street's spring line was released last night and one of my favorite new arrivals is the "Emily" floral watercolor top.  It's so cute worn alone or layered with a cardigan or jacket!  It just screams spring!!!  I love this look from Ivory Lane and got my inspiration for this look from this pic:

Head over to Piper Street to check out all the gorgeous new arrivals!!!

What colors are you gravitating towards right now?

Snow Day

I can probably count on one hand the number of times it snowed at my house in California when I was growing up.  It was a very abnormal event...and literally the entire city would shut down if just a few inches of powder fell.  Fast forward to the present...I'm certainly not in Kansas California anymore.  Instead of a pair of ruby slippers this CA girl has gotten used to rain boots and snow boots galore! The year before we moved to the mid-west I decided to invest in a high quality pair of rain boots anticipating we'd be living in harsher weather conditions.  Needless to say these boots have basically paid for themselves with how much I've worn them!  I love my Hunters...highly recommend these babies!!

Friday Favorites

Today is our fourth snow day in a row.  It's been like an early spring break without being able to leave your house! We've been able to venture out a few places, but it's just too cold to do much out there. I'm dreaming of sunnier, warmer days!  Perhaps that's why basically all the items on my favorites list today have to do with spring and summer!

Here's my latest list of things I'm loving right now...

1.

This gorgeous blush color shift dress caught my eye when I was looking through J Crew's site this week. I'm in need of a great shift dress for summer...aren't we all?!  I plan on ordering the "tall" version to get a few extra inches in length.  Crossing my fingers it fits well! And did you see? J Crew is offering 20% off on your order with code "SHOPPINGTIME"!  Now is the time to grab a few spring/summer staples!

Fringe has been one of those trends I've not been a huge fan of in the past but little by little I'm starting to make a turn and I think I'm finally ready to jump on board! I always joke that I'll never say never about trying out a trend even if at that very moment I want nothing to do with it. About 90% of the time I will eventually give something a try.  I love the idea of fringe on shoes and bags (baby steps) so when I saw these shoes I knew they were the perfect item to start with. They're neutral and will go with a ton this spring/summer! Can't wait to style these!

When I was shopping for NYFW I came across this bag and fell in LOVE!!  I've been gravitating toward neutrals more than ever lately (I blame the weather).  I think this bag would be perfect to use throughout spring and summer when I'm wanting to add a touch of neutral to an otherwise colorful look, or to just complete a soft neutral palette all around.  This bag is calling my name! I snapped a picture of it as I was leaving Nordstrom last week...tell me that's not a must-have!

We are headed to Arizona for spring break and the Florida in June for a family reunion so I'm already on the hunt for a few swimsuits and cover-ups to take with me. I think this suit from Albion is so sweet...and the colors...well, they are totally me! Love it! I bought a swimsuit from Albion last year and really liked it...great fit and quality so I'm totally on board with with this company!

I knew my girlfriends and I would be in NYC over Valentines Day weekend so I thought it would be fun to get us all a little something to remember the trip by. When I came across this cuff I hit "order" immediately!  I love unique jewelry and Baublebar never disappoints! This darling cuff has the map coordinates of NYC on it which I love! They also have options for a few other large cities (Paris, LA, London).  Now every time I wear it I'll remember our fun weekend together!  I always look to Baublebar now for great gift ideas for friends and family...and have you seen their packaging? Trust me...order and you'll thank me later.  It's the cutest!

What are your latest favorites?  Do you own anything off my favorites list? What do you think?

Jenni

There's just no place like New York City. It's one of my favorite destinations. I love everything about it!  I visited NYC in February many years ago and swore to myself I would never visit there in February ever again because it was so darn cold. Fast forward 14 years and look who's spending Valentine's Day in the Big Apple?! For good reason...Fashion Week always trumps being cold!  I knew I wanted to wear at least one floral dress while I was at Fashion Week this time around.  When I came across this floral beauty at Anthropologie I loved it so much I ended up texting a picture of it to my friends from the dressing room for them see! They all agreed...it was a keeper.  Florals are back in a big way this season and I couldn't be happier about it!

How do you feel about florals?  Yay or Nay??

NYFW Day 1

Top: Piper Street (sold out)
Faux Fur Coat: Sam Edelman
Naomi Double Ring: Kendra Scott
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff (burgundy sold out)

I'm home from New York Fashion Week and it was amazing! It never disappoints.  I don't know that I could even pick a favorite show...they were all fabulous in their own right.  Saying the weather was cold in NYC would be an understatement...it was FREEZING!  I bundled up in faux fur and boots to try to stay warm on the first day...cold or not, I loved every second!  I feel so blessed to be able to have gone again with great friends!

On day one I saw three shows...Mongol, Mark & Estel and Charlotte Ronson.  All were unique and beautiful!

We were so excited to meet and chat with Bayarmaa Bayarkhuu (the designer of Mongol) and her cute daughter after the show!

After the show:

(excuse the horrible lighting)

Faux fur, embellishments, structured shoulders, wide legs and edgy yet feminine looks were all over the runway! Lots of great things coming this fall!

We stopped in at the Time Warner Center for a late lunch where I got my beloved Jamba Juice!!!

After the shows that evening we headed to dinner at our favorite NYFW eatery, Rosa Mexicano. It was divine!

It was a great first day and fabulous way to start off the weekend.

Days 2 and 3 recap still to come!

Jenni

Black & White

This winter I have found myself wearing more black and white than ever before. I usually love  wearing colors galore, but the simplicity of a black and white color palette seems to be speaking loudly to me lately.

There are a few things in my closet each season I find myself wearing over and over again and this winter my black moto jacket has been one of those items. I love the "edgy chic" look it adds to an otherwise expected outfit.

What do you find yourself wearing over and over this season?

Valentine's Day Gift Guide

When February rolls around each year I immediately start wearing more pinks and reds...it's just a habit. There's something so sweet about these colors!  Whether you're shopping for a friend, sister, mom, or your hubby just needs a nudge in the right direction, I've rounded up some of my favorite ideas for Valentines Day gifts. I'll be spending Valentine's Day weekend in New York City this year for Fashion Week so hubby is off the hook. What are your Valentine's Day plans??

Monday Blues

Not only is it Monday but it's February!  How on earth January rolled by so quickly, I don't think I'll ever know! I've been loving the warmer temps we've had this winter...in my world 40 degrees is warm, 30 degrees calls for a coat and 20 degrees requires tights on Sundays. How my life has changed!  Dare I say this California girl has adapted to mid-west life?!

One of my favorite new arrivals at Piper Street right now is this pastel blue colored cardi, "Farrah".  Light blue is a color I don't often wear so I was excited to add it to my closet. Pastels are forecasted to be big this spring so I'm getting on board. Stepping outside my box a little...why not?!

What colors do you tend to shy away from?
